Transferring Vehicle Ownership through RTO Kerala
Transferring a Vehicle Ownership occurs when you intend to sell the vehicle outside your RTO’s jurisdiction yet within the state. The seller must record the transfer to the RTO, where the vehicle is registered, within 14 days of the transfer.
The following is the procedure:
Step 1: Like every state, Kerala has several RTOs. Assume a car is sold within the state but outside the jurisdiction of the RTO where it is registered. In that situation, a No Objection Certificate (NOC)/ Clearance Certificate (CC) must be obtained from the RTO where the vehicle was previously registered.
Step 2: Once the NOC is obtained, use the following documents to apply for ownership transfer at the new RTO.
- CMV 29 (Notice of Transfer of Motor Vehicle Ownership) in duplicate
